A dashboard isn't a pile of charts, it's a story that answers one question at a glance. Here's how to build your first real one.

Step 1: Start with the question

Before you touch Power BI, write the one question your dashboard answers. "How are monthly sales trending by region?" beats "show all the data."

Step 2: Load and clean

Use Power Query to fix data types, remove blanks, and rename columns into plain English.

Step 3: Model your data

Connect your tables with relationships. A clean star schema makes everything downstream easier.

Step 4: Build the visuals

  • One big KPI card up top
  • A trend line for the story over time
  • A bar chart for the breakdown
  • A slicer so people can explore

Step 5: Make it readable

💡

White space is a feature. Three clear visuals beat ten cramped ones every time.

This is a premium walkthrough. The full version with the sample dataset and DAX measures is part of the bootcamp.
